Gone may be the days of having full video games based on movies, and the industry has decided to settle on DLC expansions. With the release of Dune: Part Two incoming, Microsoft has revealed that they have a free Dune expansion for their Flight Simulator that will place players in the desert world of Arrakis.
Check this out:
For the first time ever, Microsoft Flight Simulator is taking you beyond Planet Earth into the harsh deserts of the world of “Dune” and the planet Arrakis. Aviators can put their courage and skills to the test in the cockpit of the Royal Atreides Ornithopter, mastering tutorials, time trials, and a daring rescue mission.
It’s not clear how exactly the controls will be different when it comes to an Ornithopter, but it’s likely that it will function like a plain what with the same wingspan—but planes’ wings never had to retract when the had to dive downward like a thopter does.
Though the trailer does give us some sandstorms and mountains, I was kind of hoping that they would include a sandworm to escape or fly around; but if they were to put that in the game, you would think that it would be in the reveal trailer.
Maybe somewhere down the line if Dune: Part Three gets greenlit.
The Dune expansion is available for free on Microsoft Flight Simulator today, and you can watch out for Dune: Part Two when it hits cinemas on March 1. Microsoft Flight Simulator is now available for Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
