Disney Allegedly Wants to Replace Ray Park as Darth Maul

Ray Park had played the part of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace, and though it was only one film, he had made a grand return with Solo: A Star Wars Story. Rumors have been going around about Disney wanting to have Maul return in a Disney+ show, but it looks like the studio wants to take Park out of their plans.

According to LRM, Disney and Lucasfilm are currently floating the idea of replacing Ray Park as Maul. We don’t know how solid news is yet, but it does kind of make sense, seeing that Park had recently gotten caught in a controversy where some very explicit photos have come out on his IG and it looks like he’s having some kind of domestic dispute.

With Park being so closely tied to the character—even doing some mo-cap work with the last season of The Clone Wars—fans  currently conflicted when it comes to him staying on as Maul. While some are waiting for more news to come to light, some are already eager to drop Park and claiming that he should be replaced by Maul voice actor Sam Witwer.

Personally, I think the whole issue still needs more information, but for now, it seems like Disney should hold off any big announcements as long as this scandal with Park is still fresh. If anything, they should just wait for the issue to die down then make an announcement when everyone has forgotten this whole thing—kind of like what they did with James Gunn and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

We don’t know when Maul appears in Star Wars next, but everyone is hoping a Solo series gets announced soon.
