While he may be appearing as a supporting character in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange is set to take the spotlight in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness next year. We only know bits and pieces about who is going to be appearing in the film, but a new photo of a Strange LEGO set may have given us our first look at the movie’s alleged main villain, Shuma-Gorath.

Though the monster is green, has one eye, and is covered in tentacles, this apparently isn’t Shuma-Gorath. The creature is actually called Gargantos, and we see it fighting Doctor Strange, Wong, and future Young Avenger America Chavez.
While the LEGO figures are front and center, the side of the box does give us a look at the actual characters, with Scarlet Witch sporting her costume from the end of WandaVision. We also have our first look at Xochitl Gomez as America.
With No Way Home essentially being a multiverse story, we can only imagine how much larger the stakes will be when it comes to Doctor Strange. My guess is that, with No Way Home having villains come to the official timeline, Multiverse of Madness will have Strange and company travelling to multiple dimensions instead.
Hopefully the concept of a multiverse won’t be so farfetched, seeing as Marvel has been prepping us for the idea cinematically since Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness comes out on May 6, 2022. Catch Strange in Spider-Man: No Way Home which comes out Dec. 17.
