Deadpool and Wolverine has been hyping up the cameos in the film with characters like Pyro and Sabretooth, but fans weren’t expecting to see Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Gambit (Channing Tatum), and Blade (Wesley Snipes) to come out and help the main heroes.
As it turns out, the return of the old Marvel Fox heroes was a really big deal for the production, and director Shawn Levy has shared some official behind-the-scenes images of the Legacy characters coming together. Check these out:

Kid in a candy store doesn't even begin to describe it. Honored to bring these heroes to the screen. Lucky to call them friends. pic.twitter.com/rA44jExp9Y

Though fans may be familiar with Elektra and Blade getting their own films, Gambit was a movie that was announced but never got into production. The studio went so far as to have Channing Tatum announced as Gambit at a Hall H panel, but the movie went into Development Hell, and the acquisition of Fox by Disney didn’t help the film’s chances either.
Other heroes that were said to have been courted for an appearance was Ghost Rider, but Nicolas Cage declined an offer to return. There were also rumors that other Fantastic Four members would appear, but the only one that did was Chris Evans’ Human Torch/ Johnny Storm.
So far, Deadpool and Wolverine have been earning mixed reactions from fans with some saying that the movie relied too heavily on nostalgia and was setting a bad precedent for the future of the MCU; but the box office numbers don’t lie, and the film is going down to be the most successful R-rated movie of all time, beating Passion of the Christ.
Deadpool and Wolverine is now showing in theatres.
