Every comic book villain has got to have a schtick, and Deadpool and Wolverine’s Cassandra Nova has a very interesting way of showcasing her powers when she would physically invade someone’s mind.
The effect can get pretty unnerving when you watch it, and Marvel Entertainment has just released a BTS look at how exactly they pulled it off for the movie. Check this out:
Get a behind-the-scenes look at how Cassandra Nova’s fingers go under people’s skin and in their minds, with Deadpool & Wolverine VFX Supervisor Swen Gillberg.
Though the movie did shoot some references of the actors playing out the roles, a lot of the effect was actually brought to life with full CG models. As it turns out, when Cassandra is tormenting Paradox in the film, it’s actually a full CG head that we’re seeing get messed up onscreen.
On the other hand though, sometimes the movie will just replace one part with CG—like the moment where Cassandra pokes into Wolverine’s head; they only ended up replacing Hugh Jackman’s forehead digitally for that scene.
With more and more reveals just coming out for Deadpool and Wolverine, we should expect Marvel to drop some more interesting behind-the-scenes looks before the movie actually gets a home release. Besides the legacy heroes and this VFX shot, there’s so much more the movie could delve into, like the new costumes or the characters they kept from the Fox universe.
I’m just here hoping for a specific timeline breakdown of where everyone is from and how they’re going to connect to the overall MCU.
Deadpool and Wolverine is now showing in theaters.
