With the movie still far off from its release, a lot of fans didn’t think we would see much of Black Adam, at best, we were going to get some concept art, but that was it. Thanks to DC FanDome though, we actually got a full teaser, and it features a lot of (animated) concept art of the Rock’s Black Adam.

Dwayne Johnson is set to star as the DC Comics anti-hero in this film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. The DC FanDome panel presented concept art of what fans can expect from the Shazam spin-off, including Black Adam’s costume.
Though he didn’t appear in Shazam!, Black Adam moderately teased in the film, with a more deliberate nod in a deleted scene. With Billy Batson’s Captain Marvel more on the fun and kid-friendly side, the movie promises to be way more serious, focusing on a more morally gray hero.
Personally, I hope they really lean into the anti-hero aspect of Adam. With the Rock being such a wholesome figure, I wouldn’t expect him to be all serious and stoic. I just kind of want him to play characters that aren’t a ‘friendly muscle man’. I think they could make him serious and still a charismatic lead for Black Adam.
Then again, that’s just my take. Maybe they already know what direction they want to take the character that’s pretty solid on its own.
For now, we wait for Black Adam to hit theaters Dec. 22, 2021.
