It ‘s been a while since the Sequel Trilogy had been closed off with The Rise of Skywalker, but Lucasfilm promises to bring the franchise back to cinemas, and they’ve brought back Rey Skywalker, Daisy Ridley.
We don’t have much details about the movie yet, but in a recent interview with Collider (via @sw_holocron), Ridley gives fans some hope about the status of the next film. She says, “Things are evolving. I continue to be very excited. There will be an update soon.”
Besides Ridley returning, it does look like Lucasfilm is set with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy attached as director of the movie. We don’t know what she’s going to bring to the table yet, but multiple creatives have already come and gone from the movie including Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins as well as Watchmen series showrunner Damon Lindelof.
For now, fans can only guess what kind of movie we should expect from Obaid-Chinoy, but it has been suspected that the title was going to be Star Wars: New Jedi Order. So far, Ridley is the only cast member to be confirmed, but a lot of fans are hoping that they do bring back other characters from the ST like Finn (John Boyega), Rose (Kelly Marie Tran), or Poe (Oscar Isaac).
Maybe Mark Hamill can even show up as a Force ghost. I’d be amazed if they found out a way to bring back Adam Driver as Ben Solo.
For now, it looks like things are being kept heavily under wraps for the next Star Wars movie, but fingers are crossed that they start shooting next year.
