General Grievous has been an all-time fan-favorite character since he was introduced in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, but he’s since had any new stories since he died around the end of the Clone Wars. With Disney+ gearing up for the release of their anthology series Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, they’ve released a new clip that has Grievous taking on another faction of Force users known as the Nightsisters.
Check this out:
Though Grievous does look to be the main highlight of the clip, this is expected to be part of the backstory of Morgan Elsbeth, the Nightsister played by Diana Lee Inosanto in the Ahsoka series. In Tales of Empire, we’re expected to see the fall of the Nightsisters by the hands of the Empire and how Elsbeth finds herself working for Thrawn when we meet her in The Mandalorian.
Going back to Grievous though, this Jedi hunter pretty much had his backstory fleshed out in The Clone Wars, but a lot of fans have said that he hasn’t been as ruthless as he was when we first saw him in the original animated Clone Wars from Genndy Tartakovsky. Hopefully with Tales, we get to see him back as a ruthless killer, rather than the moustache-twirling coward we met in Revenge of the Sith (who still looks pretty cool regardless).
Catch Star Wars: Tales of the Empire when it premieres on Disney+ on Star Wars Day, May 4.
