DCU: More Details on Mike Flanagan’s Clayface as well as Lobo in Supergirl

James Gunn’s DC takeover is going slow and steady, and last month it was announced that a Clayface movie was going to move forward with Midnight Mass director Mike Flanagan providing the script.

According to @MyTimeToShineH(via ComicBookMovie), while no director or lead actor has been chosen for the movie yet, DC is hoping to lock down the roles this month with hopes that they can start production in February or maybe even the end of January.

It’s not clear how far into development the movie is yet, but it has been confirmed that the film takes place in the new canon of the DCU, and that the movie is expected to come out in 2026. With cameras expected to role in a month, it’s very likely that pre-production is already at an end; either that, or the movie is expected to be on the smaller scale.

As for the recently announced Lobo who is going to be played by Jason Momoa, it’s been revealed that his role in Supergirl is actually going to be a sizeable one—but don’t expect him to be a main character. It’s said that Momoa is only expected to be on set for a few weeks, “so not a cameo, but not a big role either,” says the source.

Admittedly, it’s hard to grasp the tone of the DCU until Superman officially comes to theatres. We know that Creature Commandos is said to be in the same canon, but the animated violence isn’t expected to be the same when it comes to the more family-friendly live-action movies.

Hopefully things will start making sense by July.

Clayface and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow are set to release in theatres sometime in 2026.
