Cilliam Murphy’s superhero movie days are well off behind him after the Dark Knight trilogy, but it seems that Marvel Studios wants the Oppenheimer star to be on their side of things now.
According to @MyTimeToShineH, Murphy is Marvel’s current top choice to play one of its most iconic villains from the comics. Here’s the post:

We don’t have much details about Doom’s character reboot for the MCU, but the same source did say he won’t be appearing as a major figure in the Fantastic Four film; just a cameo at best. But even if Doom won’t be the main villain of the reboot, rumors are swirling that they are planning to make him the next Thanos of the MCU after Kang the Conqueror, making him the primary antagonist in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Other fancasts for Doom that have been coming out online include Jon Hamm and Mads Mikkelsen, but since we don’t know the direction that Marvel is going with the character, it’s kind of hard to put a face to this new Doom. Previous incarnations of the character have been played by Julian McMahon and most recently Toby Kebbell in 2015’s Fant4stic.
Either way, Murphy would seem like solid casting. He does have a very distinct voice and eyes which are integral to Doom’s iconography. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what Marvel comes up with in the next few years.
Fantastic Four is expected to hit theaters May 2, 2025.
