Christoph Waltz had terrorized a boy puppet in Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, but now he’s set to terrorize a bujnch of tech employees in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming series The Consultant.
The first trailer just dropped, and it has Waltz acting like a complete modern sociopath. Watch this:
Here’s the plot synopsis:
Follows a relationship between employee and boss, asking how far we will go to get ahead, and to survive.
Waltz has been known to play calm and collected villains before with roles like Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds and Blofeld in Daniel Craig’s latter James Bond movies. We don’t know what kind of character he has in this series, but I think a lot of people can relate when their company gets absorbed and they suddenly find themselves working for new bosses.
Besides Waltz, the series also includes Brittany O’Grady (The White Lotus), Aimee Carrero (The Menu), and Nat Wolff (Hereditary)—all actors we’ve seen in other thriller/horror properties, so we can probably expect them to be rightfully terrorized by Waltz’s Mr. Patoff—whatever he has planned up his sleeves.
The series is expected to premiere in the latter half of February, so we should expect a more extensive trailer soon that gives us a more complete look at the show. In the meantime, fans will just have to wait and see what’s next.
The Consultant is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Feb. 24, 2023.
