Ever since Thor: Love and Thunder was announced, fans asked what happened with Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy, who he jets off with in the end of Avengers: Endgame. As it turns out, they’ll have a presence in the upcoming Thor film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Pratt has joined the cast of Love and Thunder and will reprise the role of Star-Lord. We don’t really know how large his role will be in the film, but I imagine that he could have a nice short cameo updating us on what happened when Thor left with the Guardians at the end of Endgame.
Besides Pratt, the film is also said to include Vin Diesel (Groot) who has recently revealed that he’s arrived in Australia where Love and Thunder will be filming. While I’m happy enough to see Star-Lord in the film, it’s going to be great to see how Groot has grown since the events of the last film. I imagine he’s going to be closer to the first Groot that we meet Guardians 1, but it would be great if he had some kind of young adult version that we could meet.
While the schedule for the MCU has been pushed back, Thor: Love and Thunder looks to be far enough with a slate for 2022. While it would be a bummer for the film to be pushed back, I’m sure it’s worth it if the price is spreading flattening the curve meant theaters had to be kept closed.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set for a release on Feb. 18, 2022.
