It’s taken more than a decade, but Transformers is finally going into Beast Wars territory with Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. As a special way to promote the movie, Paramount gives us a look at life-size statues of both Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal.
Check them out:
While fans know that Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots, Primal is the one who leads the Maximals, a group of transforming robots that turn into animals this time. While the series had featured robots that look like actual animals, it seems that the movie has turned them into these bio-organic creatures that are also larger than the actual animals that they’re based on; it should make for some amazing spectacle though.
We don’t know what kind of story Rise of the Beasts is going to bring, but the original did have some time travel elements where the Maximals and Predacons had been on the planet way before Prime and Megatron got there. Of course, we should expect things to change, but I am hoping for a story that’s way more bombastic than Bumblebee.
Here’s the official synopsis for the film:
Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure and introduce the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts comes to cinemas on June 9.
