While fans wait for the Lord of the Rings series on Amazon Prime Video, Daedalic Entertainment is working on an LOTR game focused on fantasy’s most infamous crackhead, Gollum. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is set to come out next year, and we have a new look at the game, plus other characters from LOTR including Gandalf, Thranduil, and the Mouth of Sauron.

Here’s the official description:
Harald Riegler, Producer at Daedalic Entertainment, provides more details about The Lord of the Rings™: Gollum™. In this action-adventure game combining stealth and parkour, you play as one of the most complicated and iconic characters created by J.R.R Tolkien. Tormented and constantly switching between two personalities, Gollum is a different type of “hero” and the central character in this story that takes him from Mordor to the depths of Moria.
The story essentially takes place in the background of the main LOTR story and follows Gollum as he tries to reclaim the ring. Like the video suggests, Gollum essentially meets a lot of essential characters in Middle-Earth, and this allows the game to take players to places like Mordor, Mirkwood, and Moria.
While we’ve only seen some gameplay, I’m interested to see how else Gollum plays in the game. While we’ve got games focused on heroes like Bilbo, and the Fellowship of the Ring before, this will be the first to focus on one of LOTR’s most complicated characters.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be available for PS4|PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC in the fall of 2022.
