Besides Star Wars, Disney is also working on integrating more Marvel material into their parks. Avengers attractions have been around for a while, but Disneyland just gave us a teaser for their upcoming Spider-Man attraction.
Check it out:
The official description reads:
Guests visiting Disney California Adventure park in the near future may be able to catch a glimpse of the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man himself swinging above the rooftops of Avengers Campus.
Though it hasn’t been made clear in the video yet, this Spider-Man swinging around is an animatronic dummy. Back in 2018, a video was going around of a robot possibly replacing stunt-people in films, but who would have thought that Disney was thinking about using it for their parks.
Here’s the video of the “stunt robot” just in case you haven’t seen it:
I have to hand it to Disney, they’ve used animatronics before, but this is probably the first time they’re going to make use of them to perform dangerous stunts. Maybe they’ll incorporate it with an actual Spider-Man actor who can interact with guests.
Going back to movies though, I think it would be impressive to have a practical swinging Spider-Man onscreen. With some fans thinking that Sony kind of overuses its CGI with the Spider-Man movies, it would be great to see something practical down the line.
The Spider-Man attraction comes to Disney California Adventure park this summer. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man returns to the big screen on July 16, 2021.
