Netflix Drops Trailer for Castlevania Prequel Castlevania: Nocturne

Netflix’s Castlevania anime had ended back in 2021, but that doesn’t mean the franchise is definitely over. A new trailer for Castlevania: Nocturne has been dropped, and it teases the origin of the Belmont family starting with the rise of Richter Belmont.

Watch this:

Here’s the official description:

The gory and gothic adventures of the Castlevania franchise continue with an exciting new setting and their highest stakes yet. A gripping story of love and loss, Nocturne marks an evolution to the original fan-favorite Castlevania Netflix Series. Featuring a never before seen origin story of Richter Belmont (gaming icon, and one of the Franchise’s most beloved characters).

Set during the time of the French Revolution, Nocturne will follow the story of Belmont as he starts his family feud with Dracula, and we’ll get to see the origin of his iconic whip, the Vampire Killer.

It’s worth noting that the series will also come from Powerhouse Animation, the same studio that delivered the first Castlevania anime. While the original series was created by Warren Ellis, the title of showrunner for Nocturne goes to Clive Bradley.

Though the series is a prequel for an anime based on a game, Nocturne promises to be an entry point for new fans who haven’t checked out any other Castlevania material. Let’s just hope it lives up to the hype of the original show.

Castlevania: Nocturne comes out on September 28 on Netflix, just right before the start of Halloween season. You can catch up to the lore with the original Castlevania now streaming on Netflix.
