Carrie Coon Walked Away from Avengers: Endgame Because Marvel wouldn’t Pay Her Well

Carrie Coon is currently a fan-favorite for The White Lotus, but she’s been in several great dramas from The Leftovers to The Gilded Age.

Some fans may not know that she actually played one of the Children of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, and she would have been in Endgame had she not had a disagreement with Marvel Studios. In an interview with The Big Picture pod (via People) Coon’s husband Tracy Letts, Coon was asked to be in Endgame, but they weren’t going to pay her any more. Letts explains:

“I believe [Marvel] went to her for the second one, and they asked her to be in the second one… And she said, ‘Well, the first one is the most successful movie ever made. Are you going to pay me any more money?’ And they said, ‘No. We’re not going to pay you any more money.’”

With the success of Infinity War, Coon was said to have asked to be paid more for the sequel, to which Marvel instead said, “Well, you should feel yourself fortunate to be part of the Marvel Universe,” to which Coon declined to make a return.

If anything, the role of Proxima Midnight wasn’t the meatiest role in the movies, and it’s surely a waste of talent for an actress like Coon.

Maybe she’ll mend fences with Marvel someday, but as it looks, she’s still a very prestige actress and she doesn’t really need to play ball with the MCU to be relevant.

Plus she has the Ghostbusters movies to deal with so there’s that.

Catch Coon in Season 3 of The White Lotus now streaming on Max.
