Get Ready for Another Animated Existential Crisis with Carol & The End of the World

BoJack Horseman may have ended already, but Netflix has another existential crisis-themed animated series with the upcoming Carol & The End of the World. The miniseries is set to come out next week, and we have new trailer.

Check this out:

Here’s the official description:

With a mysterious planet hurtling towards Earth, extinction is imminent for the people of the world. While most feel liberated to pursue their wildest dreams, one quiet and always uncomfortable woman stands alone — lost among the hedonistic masses.

The part of Carol is being played by Martha Kelly who is best known for her deadpan expressions and delivery. Probably one of her most standout roles is that of the social worker in Marriage Story, but she also had a role as an unlikely drug dealer in HBO’s Euphoria.

The series is also created by Dan Guterman who has worked on shows like Community and Rick and Morty. When you think about it, even Rick and Morty had an episode where characters were jumping around planets that were on the final moments of their apocalypse.

If anything, Carol & The End of the World has a very interesting take on the sci-fi genre that uses the destruction of the planet to have a look at the human condition. It’s kind of like Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up; but instead of being a commentary on society, this series is more about looking inward at the character of Carol and what she could do with herself now that the world was ending.

Carol & The End of the World comes to Netflix on Dec. 15.
