Video games and movies aren’t really things that go hand in hand, but that hasn’t stopped Hollywood from trying. An Uncharted film has been in the works for a while, but has already lost two directors. Just in, Sony may have found someone to finally take on the helm.
As per Deadline, Sony is currently in talks with Bumblebee director Travis Knight to direct Uncharted starring Tom Holland. It hasn’t been confirmed if Knight will be taking the job, but he following up to Dan Trachtenberg who entered the project after Shawn Levy quit.
With Tom Holland a bit on the young side, this movie is going to be following a younger Nathan Drake before the events of the first Uncharted game. We don’t really have many details on what the movie’s plot is going to be, but the film is also set to introduce us to Drake’s longtime partner Sully as well.
Like I said, video games and movies rarely go hand-in-hand, and though we get some fun films like Wreck-It Ralph from time to time, there are always films like Tomb Raider, Assassin’s Creed, and Warcraft. Hollywood is yet to find that sweet balance between movie and game, but as long as there’s a fanbase to buy tickets, you can’t really blame them for trying.
No release date has been set for Sony’s Uncharted movie.
