WATCH: A BTS Look at the Live-Action Little Mermaid

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 now in theaters, Disney can now shift focus on another big film on their slate with The Little Mermaid. Halle Bailey’s Ariel has been getting most of the spotlight when it comes to the previews, but now we have a BTS featurette giving us a look at the rest of the cast.

Check this out:

The featurette gives us a look at the voice actors for the animal characters including Daveed Diggs (Sebastian), Awkwafina (Scuttle), and Jacob Tremblay (Flounder). We also get a look at other characters including Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King), King Triton (Javier Bardem), and Ursula (Melissa McCarthy).

One interesting reveal that the trailer also has is that Ursula is actually the sister of Triton, which could justify why Ursula has a grudge against him. I wonder if they’ll try to adapt the story of The Little Mermaid II with Ursula’s sister Morgana should this film get a sequel.

“The Little Mermaid,” visionary filmmaker Rob Marshall’s live-action reimagining of the studio’s Oscar®-winning animated musical classic, opens exclusively in theaters nationwide May 26, 2023. “The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.

Catch The Little Mermaid when it comes to theaters on May 26.
