Dreamworks may not have a franchise as serious as How to Train Your Dragon anymore, but they do have something in the ‘cute department’ when it comes to Boss Baby. Just in, they’ve just dropped the trailer for the sequel Boss Baby 2: Family Business, and we get to see the return of Alec Baldwin’s Wall Street-talking toddler.
Watch this:
The Templeton brothers have become adults and drifted away from each other, but a new boss baby with a cutting-edge approach is about to bring them together again – and inspire a new family business.
Oddly enough, Tobey Maguire didn’t come back to voice the role of Tim Templeton, and his role has been taken over by X-Men’s James Marsden. The new Boss Baby, Tina, is voiced by none other than Amy Sedaris; I think it’s worth noting that in BoJack Horseman, Sedaris’ character Princess Carolyn had a huge arc where she adopted a baby and became a mother. Now she’s playing the baby.
Other members of the cast include Eva Longoria, Jimmy Kimmel, and Lisa Kudrow. They’ve also cast Jeff Goldblum as the main villain Dr. Armstrong.
While Boss Baby doesn’t have the same charm of Shrek, I’m sure that it’s a good fun romp for any kid who saw it when it came out in 2017. With the sequel, I’m expecting it to still have a lot of humor, but maybe some more mature themes as well, seeing that it’s usually the pattern with these animated sequels. They have to make sure the movie grows with the audience it was intended for.
Catch The Boss Baby 2: Family Business when it comes out on March 26, 2021.
