It was no mystery that Black Panther was going to get a sequel, but with the film missing from the Phase 4 lineup, we should assume it would come out during Phase 5. We haven’t had any official details released for the film, but we have a rumor suggesting who T’Challa will be going up against in the sequel.
According to MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad, the King of Wakanda could be going up against the King of Atlantis —Namor—in the sequel.

Seeing that there are always villains when it comes to a Marvel film, it would be interesting to see a hero clash with someone who isn’t completely a bad guy. I guess it would be fitting, seeing that T’Challa was also introduced in Civil War, a movie where the heroes were clashing among themselves.
For now this is just a rumor, but it’s a great concept should Marvel Studios choose to push forward with it. They’ve gone through 10 years with their standard superhero formula, so it would be great if they were able to shake-up the storytelling a bit. I’m sure audiences are done with origin stories and blue sky beams.
This is just wishful thinking on my part, but it would be great if they somehow managed to connect Namor’s origin with Captain America, seeing as the two fought side by side in the comics. Maybe he could have disguised himself as a human and fought in the war, that’s why he doesn’t like the surface dwellers. I’m just spit-balling here.
The Black Panther sequel is said to be eyeing a release on May 6, 2022.
