Beyond the Spider-Verse NOT Scrapped; Chris Miller Confirms

Sony may have fumbled their Spider-Man spinoffs when it comes to live-action, but the Spider-Verse movies with Miles Morales have managed to get more critical praise than Marvel Studios’ more recent films.

Beyond the Spider-Verse never got to come out this year, and a rumor has been going around that they are scrapping most of the movie. While this was picked up by several outlets, it does seem that the rumor has been debunked.

For context, the rumor was that Beyond the Spider-Verse was scrapping most of what’s already been made, and is now looking to release in 2027.

No Spider-Verse producer Chris Miller has come out on Twitter to confirm that the statement isn’t true, and that they are pretty much still keeping what they’ve made for the movie so far:

The initial report has also been debunked by the movie’s composer Daniel Pemberton who posted:

Admittedly, there was no specific comment on whether the movie was going to release in 2027, but with development still ongoing for the movie, maybe a 2026 release date would be more realistic?

It was originally thought that Beyond was going to come out this year, but because of all the work when it came to the animation, it had been effectively delayed. It also doesn’t help that several artists from the production had opened up about being overworked by producers Chris Miller and Phil Lord who have been described as pretty indecisive.

Funnily enough, this is the second time the pair have been criticized for approaching movies their way. They were also said to have been removed from Solo: A Star Wars Story because their indecisiveness was effectively delaying the production.

With these rumors going around, I’m just hoping that Sony is pushed to make an official release date soon. 2027 sounds pretty far, but is a 2025 release date completely unrealistic?

No release date has been set for Beyond the Spider-Verse.
