The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is considered to be one of the best fantasy roleplaying games of all time, and for years fans have been badgering Bethesda when they would be releasing the sequel.
Now the developers have confirmed that the game is now in early development, and it should be smooth-sailing once they launch their latest title Starfield. Talking to Vandal (via IGN), Bethesda head Peter Hines has confirmed that Elder Scrolls VI is now in the development phase.
“We have put all of our studio’s focus on making this game the best it can be,” said Hines, “… Yes, there are people working on The Elder Scrolls 6, but this is what the studio has focused on. So no, you are not going to hear soon about The Elder Scrolls 6. Starfield is our focus for now, and it’s going to remain our priority for a while before we talk about anything else.”
Elder Scrolls VI was announced to be in pre-production way back in 2018, and while a lot of fans think that the game is still in that phase, Hines has confirmed that the game has moved from pre-production to development, albeit he does add, “it’s in early development.”
We don’t have any further details about the next Elder Scrolls game yet, but it’s safe to assume that the game will once again bring us into a fantasy world with all kinds of magic and fantasy, with different races and locations. And of course, we should also expect the modding community to have their fun with an all-new open world.
Starfield launches for Windows PC and Xbox Series X|S on Sept. 6.
