Back in February, word came out that Avengers: Endgame would run at a close to an overwhelming three-hour length. Now, it looks like the film might run even longer than that.
AMC just posted a new landing page for Endgame on its website, and in it fans get to learn that the film is going to run for at least three hours and two minutes on the big screen. That’s a long time to hold in bathroom breaks.
While AMC could have simply posted up an estimated run time for the second installment in Joe and Anthony Russo’s two-part Avengers movie, the directors did mention before that they’d whittled the film down to something more or less three hours in length.
“Right now, we think the movie is playing well and we’ve had great responses from our test audiences and we’re feeling very good about where it is,” Joe said in a previous interview.
If the film really does run as long as AMC says it does, then Endgame would last just as long as Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. Not only that, but it would make the film the longest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, blowing right past Avengers: Infinity War which lasted around 149 minutes on the big screen.
While it might seem a bit too much, fans have to remember that there’s a whole lot riding on Endgame. Not only is the film closing the Russo’s two-part Avengers movie, it also serves as the culmination of the last ten years of the MCU. We’re sure fans wouldn’t mind the three hours.
Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
