Ever since the game released back in 2009, League of Legends has grown to be one of the biggest online multiplayer games today. With Netflix releasing series for games like Castlevania and DOTA, the streaming service has just given us a first look at Arcane, a series set in the world of League of Legends.
Watch the trailer for Arcane here:
Here’s the official description:
From the creators of League of Legends comes a new animated series, Arcane. Set in the utopian region of Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun, the story follows the origins of two iconic League champions-and the power that will tear them apart.
While the teaser is only brief, we do get a look at two of the most popular characters in LOL, Jinx and Vi. Hopefully as the fall release draws nearer, we get to see more of this series. We don’t even have an episode count or more specific plot points as of this announcement.
Though shows like DOTA and Castlevania have a very traditional anime aesthetic, Arcane looks to have its own signature style—not surprising counting that League of Legends has been known for some amazing cinematics; it’s only natural that a full-blown series for the show would have the same flair. At some point, you would think it was an entry for Love, Death & Robots.
No release date has been set for Arcane, but the series is expected to hit Netflix sometime in the fall of this year. League of Legends is now available for PC and mac OS.
