Riot Games has managed to break barriers with Arcane, seeing as they were able to create a high-quality video game adaptation that actually had a compelling story. With Arcane being a great jumping off point to the world of Runeterra, it has been announced that a second season has already started production.
This was revealed shortly after the finale of Arcane dropped on Netflix:
Based on the voice over, we know that three characters that will be coming back are Hailee Steinfeld (Vi), Ella Purnell (Jinx), and Katie Leung (Caitlyn). We should probably expect a return from other side characters like Jayce, Viktor, and the ridiculously named Heimerdinger.
Though League of Legends has been notorious these days for its incredibly toxic fanbase, Arcane manages to focus more on bringing in new audiences with its strong narrative and solid world-building. Not to mention there is some great development between characters, and not just the main duo of Vi and Jinx, but all the side characters as well; from the rough and gruff members of the underground to the snooty (yet brilliant) academics of the top side. Don’t even get me started on the extensive lore.
Every legend has a beginning. From the creators of League of Legends comes a new animated series, Arcane, which follows the origins of two iconic champions and a city on the brink of war.
No release date has been set for the second season of Arcane, but you can catch the fantastic first season now on Netflix.
