There had been a shortage of AAA Star Wars games for the past couple of years, but Lucasfilm Games is looking to change that moving forward. After the successful release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, we now have an official look at the open-world Star Wars Outlaws.
Watch this:
The official description for the game reads:
Experience the first-ever open world Star Wars™ game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. Risk it all as Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted.
What’s great is Ubisoft has also dropped a gameplay walkthrough for Outlaws, and it reveals just how expansive the game can get, from driving around planets on vehicles to actually piloting Kay’s starship. Check this out:
With Cal Kestis usually going up against the Empire or the Sith, it’s actually interesting that Outlaws should put the focus on the third faction of Star Wars which is the criminal underworld. I’m personally kind of bummed that things are kept in the OT era, but I guess it does open up established syndicate groups like the Pykes and the Hutts. Who knows, maybe Crimson Dawn could be making an appearance?
Star Wars Outlaws has no specific release date yet, but expect it to launch for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime next year.
