Ahsoka was a series that a lot of fans have been waiting on, and though it delivered a lot of great characters, it certainly wasn’t perfect.
The second season is currently underway, and Star Wars creative head Dave Filoni offers a little update on the series. Talking to Extra TV during the Skeleton Crew premiere, Filoni confirmed:
“I’m so well into [Ahsoka Season 2] as well. I’ve been writing it. I’m still the single writer on it. So I’m enjoying doing that, but it’s a challenge of course. Working some of these arcs through has been a challenge and making sure that it’s all going to come out in a way that is exciting for fans. I know that they’re interested in where some of the things I developed in Season 1 go. I’m pretty happy with it. We’ll see…It’s my next thing [to work on]. It’s coming up.”
We don’t have any update on the series, but the finale of the first season did have Ezra coming back home to Hera and Chopper, but Ahsoka and Sabine did end up stranded on Peridea in exchange. As for Thrawn, he managed to escape the system Ezra trapped him in, but it seems like all the other Dark Side-leaning characters like Baylan and Shin just ended up on Peridea as well.
While there were certainly a lot of things to enjoy about the series, one big issue fans had was the depiction of Ahsoka, who seems to have become one of the more boring parts of the show. Though Rosario Dawson does look the part, Ahsoka’s character just spends a lot of the series crossing her arms and smiling slightly at Sabine.
No release date has been set for Ahsoka Season 2, but fans are hoping for a premiere next year.
