A24’s Death Stranding Movie Finds Director

A24’s Death Stranding Movie Finds Director

Hideo Kojima games have always been cinematic, and while a Metal Gear Solid movie can’t seem to get off the ground, it does look like another one of Kojima’s games is going to get the movie treatment.

As per Deadline, the Death Stranding movie being produced by A24 has found its new director in the form of Michael Sarnoski, the director behind A Quiet Place: Day One. Sarnoski is attached to write and direct the movie, but no cast has been announced—which could suggest that this story could be a prequel or more of a spinoff.

The original Death Stranding game came out in 2017 and featured an all-star cast which included Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, and Lea Seydoux; they even made director Guillermo del Toro a character model.

Like any Kojima game, the narrative is kind of confusing when it comes to what exactly the Death Stranding is, but the vibe and visuals are completely original—perfect for a brand like A24.

It’s not clear yet if anyone will reprise their roles for the game, but I would love if the movie take place in the same universe with some cameos from game characters here and there—kind of like what they did with Amazon’ Fallout series.

While the movie is in development, fans can look forward to the sequel game which is coming out halfway through the year. Check this out:

The Death Stranding movie doesn’t have a release date yet, but the sequel Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is set to release for the PS5 on June 26.
